Himalayan Riverside Cottage is a Six Bedroom Cottage. It is located in the Rudrapayag area, on the way to Badrinath, Uttarakhand. Rooms are also given individually. The cottage is on the riverside of the Alaknanda River. It’s a cottage in the village fields. It practically takes 5 hrs from Rishikesh. So, you could mix Rishikesh in your itinerary. It’s nature at its best, here. There is a five minute path which leads you to the cottage.

The cottage has six fabulous double rooms. All the rooms have attached bathrooms. They have solar heated water, as the cottage holds sustainability very high on its agenda. All these rooms overlook the Alaknanda river. These rooms are constructed of rock plastered with mud using local knowledge. This construction knowledge which is traditional, assures that the rooms stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Three rooms which are upstairs, have wooden floors. They also have private balconies to relax. The three rooms which are downstairs have mud floors and some have a private garden. Furniture in all these rooms are locally constructed by the in-house carpenters. High quality wood such as devdar, teak, sal and shisham, have been used. The cottage has a large hall for socializing and dining. It also houses a small library and a kitchen.

The cottage provides local organic food. Indian food complemented with fruit, salads & milk products. The cottage does offer eggs, which are from the cottage’s own free range chickens. Village cows are the source for milk. No non-vegaterian food is served or allowed to be consumed. The cottage is open to serving of any special dietary requirements. The cottage is blessed with lots of spring water. Even the water in the bathroom taps is pure mineral water, which is sweet and free, just as nature provides it.

​You will, notice the fireflies, dragonflies, tiny fish, butterflies, birds & aquatic plants, which enjoy the pure water created by the wetlands. Apart from the natural wetlands, the cottage has constructed a wetland for treating its swimming pool water.

Himalayan Riverside Cottage was built for relaxation & to have a deep connection with nature. The owner is a renowned kayaker and river guide with more than 20 years of kayaking experience. He is also a qualified mountain guide. His lady is an Aeronautical Engineer and loves sewing, knitting and baking. They also have two lovely daughters.
